We've Been Around...
Based in midtown Manhattan, NextDesign was founded in July 2003 by Steve Lewis (left, holding his niece) as the Web development section of Tesla-PC.com and quickly found a loyal group of clients with a wide range of talents and specialties. The term “wildly successful” comes to mind, which is why we spun off that division into NextDesign, a site dedicated solely to Web development projects, in July 2005.
The Arts
Steve, who was a painter of large conceptual art canvases and remains a life-long photographer (see his digital photography site, NextPhoto), earned a BFA way back when, you know, when they still meant something.
His design philosophy, such as it is, is organic, context-based and user-focused. Steve believes supporting the client's message is more important than creating a design for design's sake; every element on any given page must support the overarching strategy of the entire site. Anything less is a distraction.
Technology
In 1988, he got his first computer and while it was a little scary at first, never looked back, happily joining the ranks of geekdom. Soon, Steve had computerized his small family business, created two copyrighted Access databases and taught all manner of beginning, intermediate and advanced computer courses at the college level before founding Tesla-PC/NYC in 2003.
He has also written extensively about technology and how it affects our daily lives as part of the NextTech Magazine site.
Developing web sites ranks very high on his personal Top Five List as one of his favorite things to do, ever.
Business
Constantly working since he was a kid, Steve has years of experience in several industries including agriculture, fashion, bookselling, retail, wholesale, transportation, education, professional food services and the law for small, medium and mega-large corporations.
Add It All Up
With over 30 years experience in the fine and commercial art markets, nearly 40 years in business and over 15 years experience in all forms of computer technology, while he's no kid (you may think that's a good thing) he brings a broad range of knowledge to every project.
Web sites are a unique blend of art, technology and commerce; Steve's extensive experience in all three areas makes NextDesign the ideal candidate to handle all of your web development needs.
